Stolen Letters

Updated: Sep 3

It was beautiful - our story

Not because it was etched in my soul,

But because it had been written by the stars,

The same stars which twinkled endlessly in the sky

The stars which many believed, held their destiny,

Or so I thought.

They'd say, it would take a miracle

Ours was a great love

One that wouldn't last,

But would still yet be adored, and envied through history.

We laughed, we kissed, we hoped

We cried, we fought, we raged

The storms never ceased but we'd learnt not to run away in the rain

You'd pull me close as the skies drenched the earth

Slow dancing wasn't my cup of tea

But the rainbow seemed worth it;

At least to me.

You'd talk about the most logical things while I'd get lost in your eyes trying to make sense of it

How I'd been so lucky

That of all the beautiful people in this world,

I had you.

Didn't I?

It seemed romantic to me,

Watching the cherry trees blossom as I dreamed

You'd stand right beneath it holding his hand and I'd smile,

It was all too perfect.

It never occured to me,

That I'd build a garden of roses but you'd find the thorns disturbing.

You didn't need me to stay,

Yet, I wished you wanted me to.

I'd believed the stars wrote our destiny,

Only to realize, you'd stolen the letters from their words.
