‘The year was 89, the month November,

T’was a time the world was to remember,

For then walked in a man, not so tall,

Bat in hand and his aim - the cricket ball.

A kid of just 16 when he first debuted,

Most called him a baby to have started,

But like Hercules, he shouldered the nation's desires

And I bet he now comes first in our prayers.

‘Today the curtain falls, a curtain wet by a billion blue tears

Tears of joy and gratitude of these Sachin years

And while an era has ended; the mantle must be passed,

To a worthy successor to keep India’s glory steadfast.

They say that cricket won't be the same now, That may be so,

Because cricketers may come and cricketers may go.

So was Sachin wasn't just another ebb and flow?

No! No! He is an eternal star forever to glow.

And while a billion hearts that bleed blue,

Fans of Sachin they will stay forever true.

Grateful am I, he was the man I loved watching,

A giant who will always be our "SACHIN”
