Spring: A False Hope
By Drishtee Shah
i often find myself lost in these similar thoughts every night,
the path I choose never seems to provide,
i walk down this endless road of wasteful thinking and fleeting security,
the journey from afar fills my head with superficial perfection , with blossoming flowers and futile affection
yet my heart wavers at the slightest misfortune ,
it seems all too much to bear these days , the pretence of a spring when all i ever see is pain
i now walk down this endless road, yearning for the glimpse of autumn ,
when leaves fall from their high and mighty pedestal ,
when flowers wither to a destitute state,
when all things cower beneath the cold and lifeless air,
the thought of spring leaves my soul, no longer pricking my beating heart
it is now i realize how devious spring really is,
how illusionary are it's offerings
the cold winds have finally arrived, they whisper the truth
in their serene voice
they lay me down in a field of lavenders, caressing my forehead
cold covers my eyes with her rough hands
and i find myself at rest
i finally find myself at rest.
