Spreading Wings
By Nishma Sovani
Inside a silver room
walls embellished with morganite
a ray of sunlight shines through
bringing in the ringing sound of laughter from outside.
The tranquil hush of a waterfall
echoes softly through the room
blush blossom petals descend behind a delicate veil of mist
while with bluebells and tulips the damp earth is abloom.
Yet a curtain of hopeless gloom hangs above
dolorous eyes gaze out in a silent plea
and even amidst the waterfall and bluebells,
the only real beauty is in a bird set free.
