Somewhere Between The What Ifs

And everytime I leave,

I promise myself - "this us the end"

But after months when i see you,

My heart doesn't follow my command

I try to act tough but,

One glimpse of you is enough,

For butterflies to occupy my senses,

Oh! How much I love you in all the three tenses

When you kiss my cheek,

Hug me from behind,

Cuddle with me and I whisper - "you're one of a kind"

You are the supreme cause for war between my heart and mind.

And when you ask me - "what's up?",

I say "nothing! everything's fine "

When I talk about you, I blush

When I think of you, I feel this adrenaline rush

You make me wonder ,

Make my mind surrender

Should I take the chance,

Let myself fall?

Should I take one quick glance,

Or not look back at all?

An hour before leaving you,

My poor heart cries

But then again after years of practice,

I'm too good at goodbyes

Wondering what will cross the line,

If I offer you my hand,

Will you accept or decline

If I decide to fall,

Will you jump with your hand in mine?

Or just leave me here alone,

With your last cheeky smile.
