Sometimes Love Just Ain’t Enough

You were the sun. I used to be the moon. We were too deeply in love with each other to exist without one another, but we were too different to exist next to each other.

You sacrifice your life every night just to let me shine, but my radiance is a sad type of beauty, one that goes unnoticed as people sleep. You wish you could get close enough to me so that I wouldn’t feel cold. But you couldn't. I’ve encased myself in a cocoon of darkness. I’m impenetrable, deadly, and bound. You may linger a little longer during the short nights, hoping just in case I change my mind, but I won’t. You and I have decided our fates. Don't let your blessing of light fade away in my darkness. Just remember that while you can shine, I will always glow. Our love will go against this world, but I know I’ll always be able to find you at both dawn and dusk.
