Someone like her

In life we all need someone to get us through the day,

Someone to keep all the anxiety and nerves at bay.

A glimmer of sunlight before it’s about to fade,

traversing through the desert and finding that elusive shade.

Giving you that much needed shove if you get cold feet,

making you feel like you’re special and elite.

Being stranded on the ocean but finally finding a place to dock,

finding someone who can love but also mock.

That is someone like her.

Life can be volatile with waves that crash,

you hide your fear and worry like a stash.

Somone like her knows exactly where it’s hidden,

She’ll take it from you- forceful and unbidden.

She’s unpredictable and does everything on a lark,

She’ll either shine a way or keep you in the dark.

Simply to laugh and tease,

she doesn’t live life to appease.

She lives life like a show where she’s always starring,

making noises that are both soothing and jarring.

Her life is a mystery novel where there’s always a twist,

displaying the splendour of sunshine or the mystique of mist.

Time with her is never dull and always a thrill,

when she’s coming you feel that pressure and chill.

She’s like a coach, yelling at you to get back on the field,

threatening and urging you not to yield.

When you’re lying on the ground and fatigue is rife,

She’s like a soothing breeze that gives you new life,

She’s also like a gale force wind that will fling you to the next state,

her ferocity is something you’ll always love and never hate.

Her demeanour is never disingenuous or fake,

making you feel like you’re on a peaceful voyage down a lake.

She might flip the boat over and cause you to be drenched,

but she’s crucial to your life, like the star player who is never benched.

If that happened, everyone would lose,

she has shown that what is life without a playful ruse.

Somone like her- you never know what to expect or foresee,

trust her as she’s got life down to a tee.

Don’t be too serious-

be fun and delirious.

Be gentle but also firm,

comfort people but also make them squirm.

Happiness and optimism are what you should always envision,

a life with jubilance but also derision.
