Solitude
By Divya Jain
Though she is a social creature by nature,
yet she prefers it.
She knows that it will drive her mad,
yet she wants it so bad.
She wants it so bad
because only in its embrace, can she take off her mask.
That she wears to save herself,
from questions that fake acquaintances ask.
Those who saw only saw her act,
that she put up to keep her sanity intact.
The only one who saw both her worst and best
was snatched away from her by the jealous rest.
They still wonder about the reason
but never did it once cross their mind,
that she stayed in it, not by preference,
but due to their hopes and treason.
They still wonder
why she needed it so bad,
why she wanted it like mad?
Truth be told, it wasn't what she wanted
or what she longed for.
It was all she had.
