Smooth Space
By Jayeesha Merchant
Silence, you're new,
Yet, all too familiar,
I know you,
By another name,
You were different then.
Ringing in the head,
Ringing in the ears,
Is that you?
Are you speaking?
The body interprets you,
Through these.
Supplemental sounds;
Clicks, hums, whirrs.
They've joined you, Space.
You know the name.
You're ceaseless,
You're still here?
Good god,
You're loud!
Smooth Mr. Space,
The elephant,
In this godforsaken room.
