Born of the same womb, from the very same source,

For centuries upon centuries, for millennia upon millennia,

They have been nurtured side by side in the womb of Mother Earth,

Our enchanting mother, the Earth.

Both are priceless treasures of human life.

One serves the growth of civilization,

The other stands as a symbol of power, heritage, luxury and wealth.

One is coal, blackened through nature's own transformation;

The other is the fruit of long-term gestational labor deep within the Earth

Forged through ages of pressure and heat, a diamond of captivating beauty

Through these two siblings of the Earth are made of the same carbon

Their forms differ, the natures differ and so do their uses.

One bears a deep black skin; the other, a radiant play of light.

Yet the diamond’s dazzling, heart-winning glow has never taught it pride;

Instead, in every sparkle, it reflects

The long struggle that shaped it deep beneath the Earth.

Through immense pressure, friction and unbearable heat,

It gained the glorious radiance of extraordinary beauty.

With light scattered from deep within its heart, it has adorned

At times, a king's royal crown; at times, a royal throne!

As a symbol of deep love, it has graced a beloved’s ring.

At the same time, it has witnessed the greedy eyes of power-hungry souls,

And bloody, cruel wars and conspiracies to possess it.

Yet, with a serene face and a gentle smile,

Rather than seeking praise for its beauty, it quietly remembers

Its long history of formation and the power of nature.

On the other hand coal, dark as night, is no less worthy.

Amid fierce, leaping flames, it stands firm

Black in color, yet pure at heart, it gives off itself,

Lighting the world through its many vital functions.

It becomes fuel, it generates electricity, warmth and power,

It brings light to darkness; It powers factories, business and trade,

It remains an essential part of daily life across the Earth!

A piece of coal and a piece of diamond -

In this struggling world, both are glorious in their own right!

One is the foundation of power, the other a bearer of wealth;

One is valued for his work, the other admired for his riches.

Yet neither competes with the other in silence.

They know no envy; there are no grudges!

It is we humans who set them apart,

We who draw lines of division between them!
