Shrouq
By Krishna Mohan
I met a sunshine in a distant land,
Where bound by the less I toiled my life.
She bore a trinket in her lips
For the world to find repose anytime
As I fought to chain the demons in me.
She splintered my will with a text to meet tonight.
I heard a knock and then a ring,
Opening my door did take me a while.
She called my phone again at my door,
For me to jump off my couch and take a fall.
As she opened the door in agape,
She found me and my pride on the floor.
I wish I sank into that floor that sec,
Were I could melt in that flame of shame,
She helped me up with a laugh locked tight.
For me, I just kept my eyes off her browns.
As she dusted the last of my hubris,
She breathed a kiss on my cheek ever so deep.
I watched in awe as she dropped her blacks,
Where I saw a goddess unveil,
She helped me breathe with more than a kiss,
For me, I was in worlds unknown
As she looked deep and panted in my ear,
She missed me and I am all she needs.
I asked her with amaze why she came
Where she gave me a smile ever so deep,
She sang songs and made me merry all night
For me, I danced through songs I couldn’t get
As Azan broke the spell of that night.
She wore her veil and kissed me goodbye.
I once found an oasis in a path so long
Where I forgot the truth of being.
She just threw my lust off a cliff that night,
For me, it is now nothing but a myth,
As I walk old through the sands of my beach,
I still see her smile in the morning sun
And skip a beat when I recall her browns.
