sheeps leader

They pinned it on me that metal blossom

and I felt my childhood spine snap straight.

I am the girl

who learned to lead by watching wolves apologize with their teeth.

who tucks her tail as if to pray no one sees I have one

When they ask for my vision, I offer them the blood-map of every room I survived.

When they want my voice, I reach down my throat and pull up something still kicking.

But at night, alone with the badge beside my sleeping hand,

I admit the truth the daylight cannot hear:

I am terrified they will discover I am not a leader

but a refugee of a war only the stars know

that my authority is just a wolf wearing a tie,

that my mind is just fangs shapend with mistrust,

that when they look at me expecting gentleness

I am only a stray trying so hard to remember what was normal felt like.

What if they see the cracks my fathers love left behind?

What if my strength is just the pretty name we give to a child who never got to stop being brave?

Let me be their prefect.

Let me be the one who holds the door while looking for the dagger.

Just please..

do not look close enough to notice

that I am leading you from a room

I have never figured out how to leave

That bound the woods is a pup

whom is shakeing in the dark.
