She Has No Death
By Chitra Chidambaram
she couldn't promise tomorrows for me so she gave me a today holding her in it my youth was busy stuffing every today in a forgotten yesterday today, she isn’t with me only a hollow today remains I search for the remains of every lost today I search for her, my first love, my mother. she, who gave me a tomorrow to sketch, in every scintillating today watching me paint it with the brush of her love and the colours of spring today, in the winter of my life, I search for the warmth of summer
yesterday comes to pull me out of melancholic slumber, carrying nostalgia sprinkled with her adorable, everlasting fragrance she, who is my first and forever love defines it perfectly in every way, for every today belongs to her It never was mine anyway life celebrates her in me, every day she, who selflessly gave to me all of herself lives on she has no death
but why do I feel lifeless, stillborn?
