SHE HAS HER REASONS.

She's been told that if she has letters to write

She has reasons to stay

But those letters are there to describe the pain she went through each and every day

To her mom

I’m sorry.

Sorry I couldn't fit into your box

I’m sorry that I can’t be your little fox anymore

But mama

You made it so hard to earn your love

Labeled me as your little white dove

But my version was ingrained with the blood of prey and it was maimed

To her brother

I’m sorry.

Sorry that I wasn't the big sis you wanted

Sorry you had to live with my moods

Just know I don’t hate you

As much as we fought…

My heart will forever ache for you

To her father

I don't hate you, I despise you

As much as you tried to sweet-talk me

You and I will never be

More now than ever

To her friends

Y'all were fake

And please don't bother coming to my wake

No one wants to see the fake tears you'll weep

That were once mine, that were smashed and cracked out of my spine

To him

Thank you for showing me how love could be

And thank you for showing me how undeserving it is for me

You made that little girl happy

Told her she was beautiful

Told her, her natural hair wasn't something to be ashamed of

Then you made her cry

Promised her you were better than her father was

Promised her that she was worthy of every achievement

Just to tell her you didn't mean it

They told her that if she has letters to write

She has reasons to stay

But you can't fool her

Cause those reasons died

The first time she was bullied

The first time she was told to cover up

The first time she was told that the world’s not fair

The first time she was told she wasn't pretty

The first time a boy broke her heart

The first time she had an anxiety attack

The first time she put her finger in her mouth and went splat

The first time she fainted from not eating

And the first time a boy called her fat.

They say if you have letters to write

You have reasons to stay

But they're wrong, love, they are so very wrong

Because like her favourite quote goes

"Reasons to live give reasons to die"

And trust me

She feels the exact same way.
