* Shadows In My Room

Shadows dancing across my room,

Speaking softly through the gloom-

Are you still here? they seem to say, Will you run, or will you stay?

A painted smile costs nothing at all,

but what blooms when the masks fall?

I've taken the sword of words in hand, uncertain where I'm meant to stand.

Fear wears a grin, it knows this place,

whispers flaws I cannot face-

it feeds upon my silent screams, unravels all my fragile dreams.

The silence here grows thick and loud

with all the doubts I can't speak out.

My heart's a shape of only pain, where insecurities remain.

I trace the edges of my doom,

these shadows dancing in my room-

still dancing, still returning here, still whispering their ancient fear.

Shadows dancing across my room,

spinning out their sweet, dark bloom.
