Shackled Dreams

Hands of the clock still, yet time threatened to move,

Thoughts racing for miles, yet eyes adamant to behove,

Millions of feet hustling, driven solely by greed,

Befuddled by norms, taking wants as their need.

But there in some lonely corner lies a yellow chair,

Chained to it is a girl, who's dreams are but despair,

Stuck is she to it for the world clipped her wings,

Jostled by the elders, her heart now no more sings.

They asked her once, if she ever wanted to fly,

But soon put her down with the dangers of the sky,

"Stick to the ground for that's where you're most safe,

Why head to places, where your wings begin to chafe ".

Staring out a window, she still longs for the blue,

Wondering about escape, desperate for some clue,

Stuck is not what humans are meant to be,

Fly away from the world, if only to break free.
