Self-Alienation

I hate myself, but I love hating-myself more. I find no taste in life, but I crave life’s taste more.

I detest enforced expectations, yet I strive to fulfil them. I abhor smiling in front of camera, but do so to please them.

I seek isolation from society, but I fear solitude. Cacophony of society hurts, alas enjoying pain is now an attitude.

My parents do understand me, but I push them back for independence. I don’t know why I embrace this freedom, when I really need is dependence.

In the search of self-identity,

I have fallen into societal characterisation,

Instead of finding serenity within self,

I have achieved self-alienation.
