Salt In My Wounds

By Preeti Arra

The broken and the hurt nurse their wounds in agonizing silence

So when when they show them to you

Do not condone the quiet

Lingering around fresh wounds

May not seem like the right thing

But not acknowledging the hurt?

A greater pain it brings

So get right to it with your fistfulls of salt

Rub it all around my hurt

My screaming and crying

Now doesn't seem absurd

Rip off the scabs

Throw in a punch

Make my hysteria valid

I'll owe you one.
