Sacred-Brown Pride

A thousand and one words spoken...

half-truths written,

an ancient history stolen—

old hope and glory forsaken,

promises of hope and unity

seamlessly broken.

A thousand and one hands, calloused and cold,

reach for my crown.

My early morning brings more darkness than dawn

and rings with the clang of swords being drawn.

Cheeks trace salty tracks where tears fall.

Yet this pumping drum in my chest

keeps beating all the same—

this blood beneath my clay skin

still boiling with

zealous passion,

an unstoppable will.

From fractured earth, my roots run deep—

each scar a testament.

From dust beneath my burdened feet

arises hope no chain can bind.

I am African—spirit untamed,

each pulse calls my ancestors by name.

Their whispered truth no lies can drown...

I wear my pride of sacred brown.
