Riding A Delorean
By Waniya Alam
Sandstone mountains and cliffs where water gushed forth
Where lush gardens I could own
Could it be the lands of Petra in the north?
I travel to the past for a new home
Could it be home to the Virgins of the Sun
The tranquil pilgrimages where I could roam
A royal retreat? Machu Picchu could be one
I travel to the past for a new home
The place that feared godlessness
Where The Redeemer has the throne
Where they don’t experience hoplessness
I travel to the past for a new home
Could it be called a Great wall
Or a monument without a dome
A mighty appearance; tourists it may call
I travel to the past for a new home
With a name that may sound like a cuisine
Astronomical abilities possessed by a stone
In Mexico the heritage is to be seen
I travel to the past for a new home
Could it be an amphitheatre
Called the Colosseum in Rome
A place noted by the fights of gladiators
I travel to the past for a new home
A mausoleum surrounded by the wreath of love
Where the Begum’s tale the world has known
With the marble white like that of a dove
I travel to the past for a new home
Could I possibly be the last man on Earth
Trying to relive in the past searching for a new home
