Reminiscence

When I close my eyes,

I can still see your face sometimes.

Not because I love you still,

Maybe because I couldn’t unlove you until.

Too young to accept each other’s flaws,

Perhaps that’s the reason we took a pause.

Oblivious of what was going through your mind,

Another love that your heart had find.

Excruciatingly, I accepted the change,

Couldn’t gather courage to fall in love again during my teenage.

But thank you for that unbearable pain,

That made me stronger day-in and day-out again.

There’s still a part inside my heart,

Which could not pull you apart.

Years after now, I am smiling happily again,

And have completely overcome that heart-wrenching pain.

I gave my life, a fresh new start.

I can be broken now, but cannot be torn apart.

There may come times when I may be shattered,

But trust me, O Man, my pieces won’t be anymore seen scattered.
