Remembrance

At 4 A.M. my thoughts renew

the sky is grey and my heart blue

I shut my eyes to the image of you

and grit my teeth just to get through

Slow as the tide, it comes in waves

shallow at first, then deep as a cave

I try to bury my thoughts, then dig the grave

A damsel in distress, that can’t be saved

Where your beauty exists, words cease

your warmth put my mind at ease

now your ghost remains- like a tease

In the fabric of time, you were but a crease
