Rembering Everything

I remember how the sunlight found the brown within your eyes.

How the wind still carried hints of you long after goodbyes.

How your smile gave warmth to all who gathered near.

How your laughter spread its infectious joy for every heart to hear.

I remember how your words held oceans deep with thought.

How your gentle arms could mend the weary soul I brought.

How every darkened cloud grew silver with you near.

How courage always rose and stood above your fear.

I see you still in quiet reflections of the past.

I hold a love once certain it was built to last.

I hear your voice in stillness when my wandering thoughts drift.

I keep the memories of you, your finest gift.

I see you now and then, so close yet too far to hold.

Where tenderness once lived, the air has since grown cold.

I will not break the quiet peace that you have found.

So I wait with an open heart, hoping love will come back around.

I pray one day these distant dreams might yet come true.

That you walk through the door and we begin anew.

For this long winter in my chest to yield to spring.

Until then in my heart I stay, remembering everything.
