My li’l faded blue tee
In you I see
A lizard scaling the walls free –
A sight of disgust; A sight of respite
You’re so familiar – my object of despise
I’ve spent hours holed in my bathroom
With awfully pleasant company
I’ve inspected with microscopic detail
Your hideous skin as if it cloaked me.
My li’l faded blue tee
In you I see
Holes larger than bottomless pits
Beckoning for me to plunge –
The end of all destiny.
I see stitches bulging –
The Himalyan abode
Soaked in salty streams
With craggy, crystallized dreams.
My li’l faded blue tee
In you I see
An ocean of blues fading
But the blue dye don’t die –
It remains faded for me.
The wacky print has toned down
But it hasn’t flagged my spirits
That expand your fabric
The way my heart expands when I see you.
My li’l faded blue tee
In you I see
A relic of me
I see someone who was overjoyed
That he could now share a tee
With his best friend and idol
A ritual that I had for a while unseen.
The relationship now is just like the tee
Ain’t a speck of dirt that can’t be washed clean.
My li’l faded blue tee
In you I see
Me ditching my adolescence
The way time stole your newly sheen.
I see neglect, disenchantment and longing
Yet, it screams comfort effortlessly.
I see all of this
‘Cause I see a reflection –
In you I see me.
