Red Rose
By Huimila Lungleng
Under a beautiful countenance,
Lies a thorny vein that obstructs
The flow of life.
One cannot afford to be free from
The veils of destruction,
Unless the price is payed.
Men seek to get a taste
Of the sweet scent,
That is tempting to the soul.
Once captured by the lustful serpent,
One cannot escape from its chain.
The eyes are blinded by the pleasure it gives,
The pain cannot be felt
Lashed on by the venom.
More and more asks the soul,
For a dose of death,
That seems like an eternal pass to the tormented.
The antidote of life,
Lays on the hands of one’s thoughts and desires.
The purer the desire, the stronger the venom.
Staying cautious and alert,
Will be the guarding shield for one’s life.
