Random Walk?
By P G Pratyusha
A windy evening
The urge for walking
Went for one
To have some fun
The same busy street
With every thing discrete
Wandered a little far
Beyond a block, a bike, a car
A curious path caught my eye
The less trodden, was it a lie?
But stories had spun around this road
‘May the God protect, those who trod’
My step hesitated and heart raced
But the gut pushed after all I had faced
To explore the horror within and around
The spark rose to enter, to return safe and sound
I went on, with a companion in me to cover
The chaos lessened and silence took over
Sweat dripped, legs shook, eyes went North and South
Searched for something that made my path worth
I heard leaves crumble under me
And understood longing cries of birds upon me
Neither of them assured defence
Warned not to move further in any means
The sky felt darker, a lamp across looked brighter
That hung on the abandoned hut; I sprinted faster
The hut moved farther, it seemed to lure
A voice called me, was I sure?
The birds now cried different
I could smell a curious scent
Branches swirled strong and loud
I felt a shadow standing scary and proud
This was a trap for sure, I had to get back
I clenched my fist to find right track
Looked back slowly and found creepy eyes
I winced and turned around but that won’t suffice
The voice deepened, the cries exacerbated the attack
Ran for life, with no intention to look back
A sudden blow from behind, something dashed
My eyes blinked fast, a sudden thought flashed
Is it a fun evening walk
Or A future thing to talk?
