Questions of Being

Will the pain be acknowledged

only when blood is shown?

Will I be considered dead

only when my body ceases to move?

Does merely breathing

mean that one is truly alive?

Does one not feel pain

if one’s chest is not drenched in tears?

Is being a pretty human

simply enough?

So, is it acceptable

if we are not truly human?

Is merely possessing a brain enough?

Is thinking about life

not our responsibility, then?

Is it always necessary to cry

when you are in pain?

When sorrow overwhelms you?

Does sorrow cease to exist

simply because you have cried?

There are, indeed,

so many things to think about.

But then—

why don’t we think about them?
