Quest For Contentment

Updated: Jun 10, 2023

O fate,

Why the thorns? I expected roses

Why the darkness? I asked for the light

Why the distress? I sought peace

Why the sorrow? I longed for happiness

Why the failure? I strived for glory

Why the plunge? I wanted to rise.

O human,

Rose and thorn, dark and light

What you see makes life bright.

Nothing is achieved without pain

Only sorrow makes happiness a gain.

Live the moments, diamonds in your path

Seek no treasure at the end of your walk.

If only you take someone else’s path

You may realise there is no better walk.

I’m the fate that giveth your path

The best is what thee walk

Nothing is permanent; nothing lasts.
