Quenching

It was all good at first.

Just a spring for my thirst.

Into joy, my heart burst.

‘Til I'm struck by its curse.

Got preceded by lust.

Haven't quite thought, too fast.

Never know what’s in past,

Just a sip's what I must.

I got anxious and mad.

Still, I bowed down, I’m glad.

Might be all that I've had,

So, no chance to be sad.

The hands moved through own will.

My mouth waited there still,

As I scooped and got thrilled

By the water that chilled -

All the flames in my chest.

Though it felt was the best.

I stood to get some rest

Then got pulled to its nest.

Unwilling, yet, got kissed

By the darkness of this

Tempting void and abyss.

That was all I had missed.

Haven't tried to think twice,

It embraced all my lies.

We'll be drinking our lives

Until one's gone and dies.

For a long while, I swear

It's the first time I shared

What I felt and I bared.

Was it love or despair?
