Purple Hearts

I am red

Passion embalmed within flesh and bone

A consuming fire

Told to forever contain

And yet I continue to blaze

Flying too close to the sun

I burn with delirious desire

For what I cannot acquire

My waxen wings molting

As my thoughts devour

I fall headlong into the abyss of my shadow

Made darker by the brightness of the light displayed

Shadow tendrils strangle my soul

While I glow and dance among the throng

Awaiting the inevitable collision

Praying for an end to my endless charade

You are blue

Chaos wrapped in the silken folds of serenity

A raging sea

The unexplored depths calling out to me

Endless waves froth and foam

Yet disappear as though never was

Your torment hidden within the guise of solace

The calming waters entice

Yet your mind as mysterious and ceaseless

The ocean bed cannot compare

Forever in danger of drowning

Your lungs clogged

Throat constricting

Blankness spreading

Craving the silence ensued

And yet your waves extend

Welcoming my burning body

We combine in an explosion of purple

Violet thrumming as we dissolve into one

Craving synchrony beyond the vibrant

And yet thriving within the color

Our pantomime collapse

Masks of indifference revealing

Lavender laced adoration

Our lips painting endless memories

Drunk on our subject of fascination

Now finally united under the lilac sky

Love reigning tyrian over our star crossed tie
