Puppies In The Park
By Brinda Chakraverty
A simple stroll in the neighbouring park,
There it lay, a shawl, beside the bark-
Five shadows wriggle and start to move,
The new smell, they seem to approve…
The quintuplet emerged, blinking at the light-
Their playful nature kicked in, and they began to fight…
The enticing tempting aroma of the parle-g,
Paused their fight; and they pounced at me…
It took, what felt an eternity to fend them off me,
Their happiness knew no bounds; you’d agree!
The black, brown and the white amalgamed to,
Joyous emotions, loyalty and bonding true…
The sun by the horizon, with a smile, sunk behind-
Wordlessly stated: all living has a certain task assigned…
Once completed, you descend back into the sea-
Satisfied, glorious and free…
