Preservation

My soul and presence were the track;

Great and all, but I had blindly sold my soul,

As my soul underneath was an empty bowl,

Which after my stabbing hamstring rip

Became an independent, definite reality check–

All I had bled for was thrown away in the shed,

And suppressed like my suffering instead.

Constant viewing is too traumatic;

It plays as a destructive static,

Leading to the need for the basics,

And desperation for separation of work and home,

To spend my rational time speeding and alone.

So, I’ll never go back, ever.

The thrill of the sprint remains,

But no handle of my life in chains.

Safety is ensured for my brain.

On the track, I’m a calculated legged rat;

At home, I’m just a man,

Nothing cutting up The Father of Many Beloved Gifts.
