So now, you're a girl

Be ready to pacify your soul and try

You look like a pearl

But treated as a way to satisfy

The news of your birth is like the pain for the old

And always "keep quiet" you were told

"Frock is for girls" and "don't play with that boy"

You are too young to understand but- Ready to satisfy

"You can't do this!"

"Why don't you play with kids?"

And "did you do the chore I said?"

"Stop that sulking! And why are you laughing that loud ?!"

"You won't understand boys! Who rejected you?!"

"Oh, so you are crying? Carry on! That's what girls do!"

"So he touched you on the road? what were you wearing?"

"What were you expecting him to do

after dressing up like that honey?"

"Stay away I will handle him!"

"You don't know how to fight!"

"Do you know how to cook?"

"It's going to make you a good wife!"

"Army!? Ha-ha you are too weak to be!"

"Help your relatives in whatever they are working!"

"Your cousin is a doctor you, see?

What are you doing?"

"Don't make your face like that!

People would think you are irritating!"

So now you are uncomfortable everywhere

Home, work, out or walking

You are going be the one who is suffering

Boys are walking on the streets freely

with their friends and talking

And girls are told

"watch your surrounding whenever you are walking"

You have to buy sanitary napkins,

hiding from your own dad!

"You got rejected from a marriage,

because you work? How sad is that!"

Cooking is an art for boys!

But for girls it's "their work"

"Don't go to temples when you are on your periods!"

"Talking sweetly is your work not theirs"

So welcome! You're a girl

Be ready to pacify your soul and try

You look like a pearl

But treated as a way to satisfy
