Hey! I didn't even notice you there. Sorry about that - I'm just really busy finishing this book right now, but hey! Thank goodness you got here just in time, because I'm in desperate need of emotional support. So... I should probably explain what this nonsense is all about... I'm working on a fantasy novel, you know? People seem to love those these days, but who knew it would be this difficult. Creating a whole another universe, giving it a name, developing the characters, their personalities, lifestyle, social environment, their relationships with each other and so much more! Not to mention the grammatical corrections, the plot, the writing style... God, why didn't anyone warn me about this! I genuinely have no idea how all these mainstream artists do it. You know, the human mind is truly the scariest thing of all if you think about it. I mean, we've spent all these years limiting ourselves to a single approach to just about everything. We've learned about space and that the sun is also a star, we've learned about world wars and how , oddly , one of the primary objectives of many wars is peace. We learnt about how the letter “x” is used in algebra rather than in actual writing. We stock all this information in our brain and yet it still manages to fabricate it’s own thoughts and ideas. The human intellect is both frightening and fascinating. Perhaps this is why its said that the brain is the most complex organ of our body.
Writing this book, difficult as it was, has probably opened my eyes to society's unspoken rule. The most beautiful pieces of architecture, art, literature, and indeed of all things, are never born perfect. Gustave Eiffel didn't sketch the Eiffel Tower in one try. Pablo Picasso didn't paint Les Demoiselles d'Avignon with just a stroke. Michelangelo didn't sculpt The Pietà overnight and Shakespeare probably didn't write Midsummer Night's Dream on a hot summer night. Although the idea of perfection can be subjective, the definition is all the same. The most beautiful things in life often are......Well, that was spiritual. Who would have thought that writing a book would bring out my inner Athena. Hmm... maybe I should write a book about Olympus, that would be a good one. Anyways, what do you think of the book so far? I really hope you like it. Writing a book is a daunting but exciting task. It's almost like it gives me a sense of power. The power to create a whole new universe. Of course, the process is a bit overwhelming, but the end result makes it worth the while.
Hmm... how would I explain the process of writing, you ask? Well, to be short, it's different for everyone. I, for one, have an existential crisis with every sentence I write (you've seen it too!). And if I could sum it up in three words, I would say..Enlightening, challenging and rewarding. But to be precise, I start with zeal and optimism. I look forward to writing certain scenes because of they're dramatism and because they're usually the scenes that people as readers tend to get excited over , and call me crazy, but there have been times when I've started writing a book JUST to include a certain scene-I know you probably think I'm insane but it's the only way to satisfy my poor fangirl heart. You can't help but adore those scenes, you know? Those itty bitty snippets are the ones that teenage girls daydream about , a forbidden romance? Why yes! Laughing together after a near-death experience? Yes, please! A morally grey protagonist who is socially reprehensible and has an unparalleled interest in crime? SIGN. ME. UP. But I'm also a bit nervous. I've written a few books (not all of which will see the light of day) and I know what can go wrong. Maybe I might have an unexpected plot hole. Maybe I don't have enough conflict or drama to keep the book moving. Maybe the scenes where books tend to acquire droopy centres will bring me to a standstill. Nonetheless, I'm ready to get going! In the wise words of Harold Wilson, "I'm at my best in a messy, middle-of-the-road muddle"
Aaand we're almost there...one more sentence...let me edit this sentence real quick...and we're finally DONE!!!! OH MY GOD , I still can't believe it's finally over. It took months to finish this book and now it's over, and of course I couldn't have done it without your support of course. You have been a great help and I couldn't possibly thank you enough for it. Now I just need to find a publisher and my work is basically done. Maybe I'll go out for dessert to celebrate, you're welcome of course - what? I haven't told you what the book is actually about yet? Oh, sorry! I must've forgotten with all this mess going around, anyway it's about how a girl's life changes drastically after she gets involved in a fatal car accident... which gives her the ability to see ghosts, more specifically, the ghost of her favourite author, who happened to die due to some "unusual" reasons. When this idea first came to me, I knew I had to write it. And I'm glad you think so too! Anyway, it's been a long day and we both definitely need to rest, so I guess I'll see you later... or should I say in the next chapter? Haha, well BYEEEE.
