Pleasures Of An Ordinary Life
By Kadeeja Ruwaidah
The darkness of the night,
Sweeps across the sky;
The sun takes flight,
And the stars shine by.
I stroll home,
Weary and tired.
Morning, energy abundant,
Evening, all zapped away.
The doorbell chimes,
A conundrum in my ears;
And out she comes,
With a smile rivaling the stars.
Everloving hands,
Tugs me in.
Engulfed in sweet embrace,
Weariness all, but forgotten.
Little giggles and squeals,
Float about the air;
As small pairs of hands,
Drags me into hugging care.
Kisses and embraces, Done and over with;
I look into their faces,
And reflected back, I see,
Their joy of having me.
Love and care,
As the one my better half shares.
Pride and joy,
The apple of my eyes be.
Such is the pleasure,
Of an ordinary man.
Such is the pleasure,
Of an ordinary life.
