Staring at my clock as I watch it strike 12

Today I turn 18, wondering if I could ever return?

With the last candle left to burn out on my teen

I remember the dreams my naïve eyes had seen

Wishing that I could live them all

Or maybe wishing I hadn't seen them at all

What started as an idea turned into a goal

What is left of it is only the sound of a broken soul

Where did I go wrong?

Were the dreams of a teen too strong?

I didn't realise that I had come so far along

So before I burn out that last candle

I promise to dream only that which I can handle

For its hard to forget what once was loved

And here I am planning again, hoping this time that I won't get burned.
