Petrified
By Chinmaya Chawhan
This night brings terror,
Petrified eyes full of tears;
I'm losing sight of values,
Along with the meaning of my existence.
I am questioning it all, worthless to priceless;
In light, only my shadow accompanies me;
In the dark I am itself;
A piece of mass aspiring to be polished as a sapphire,
With delicacy and grace.
Ears seek words of affirmation
Eyes, a container of love to flow;
I am losing all determination
As I see a world, devoid of me, aglow.
Alas! this night only brings terror,
A heavy heart, carrying solitary horror;
Akin moonlit shadows,
Camouflaged as what mortals view as vigor.
Hiding it's fine desires while fulfilling other's prior.
