Penniless Bridge

I’m standing on a lone bridge hoping,

there’s something left

to be salvaged.

I don’t like to leave parts of myself behind

be it baggage or not, it is mine.

Who we are and where we came from

is important, to never forget

Cause sometimes life is nectar

not from honeycombs and bee hives but nets.

They get caught on your wings and dampen it just enough

so you can never shake it off

It’s ooey gooey cologne attracts friends

you never knew you had

But funny how they evaporate into nothingness

when you are a penniless man.

Then you end up on a lone bridge, trying to salvage

what’s left of yourself

with all that you’ve learnt is all you have

that is truly yours.
