Patience

I’ve become patient,

Just like you asked me to be, right?

Because you said I lacked it,

You said I’m too antsy,

Too impetuous.

I learned to wait,

Patiently,

While my eyes wandered,

Strayed, searched,

Restlessly through the passing crowd of souls,

for your eyes,

for your smile,

for your final glimpse,

your one, last, glimpse…

Because, you see,

I taught myself how to become patient,

To be forbearing,

Just like you asked me to be,

But I forgot how to teach myself when to…

Stop.
