Paint

I wanted to paint today.

It just felt like a day when I wanted to get my hands dirty with the paint.

So I opened the box of tubes and realized that I was out of white.

I had set up everything: the pre-painted canvas, a bowl of water, the palette, brushes.

Too late now.

There was no white.

I was left with only the other colors and black.

The tube for white had been squeezed out till the last dab had been used,

I couldn't lighten the shades anymore.

So I used black. I darkened them;

I mixed it slowly watching the swirls of black mix with the blues and reds and pinks and yellows.

I watched the black dissolve and become a part of them.

What was it now? Was it black mixed with yellow or was it yellow mixed with black?

Was it either of the two?

Was it none of them?

The colors seeped the canvas.

And when I wanted a lighter shade I just squeezed some fresh paint out of the tube.
