“Pages That Still Breathe”

I turn through the pages of my diary,

Where the emotions were restless and fiery.

The feeling slowly dissolves,

As the chaotic mind evolves.

Things that are left in the past-

A part of me so deep and vast.

The mornings that we left in a hurry,

When reaching on time was our major worry.

The time that slipped past,

Turning into memories that last:

The days of mandatory cartoon,

And a sleepy afternoon.

The forgotten pages are wrinkled and yellow,

Where my younger self talks about a stolen marshmallow.

From the transition of pencil to pen,

I didn’t realise when, the office became my den.

I smile as I go through my diary,

Where the greatest wish was to live in a prairie.

I drift through the pages,

As the emotions change through ages.

And I thought out loud,

“Dear younger self, I am going to make you proud.”
