Outside

I walked out to the balcony today

To see if you were there

Something weighed inside of me

Between a hope and “why do I care”

Because what I’ve learnt so far

Is that hope is a dangerous feeling

It keeps you longing, wanting, unraveling,

Like sniffing the air, in the meadow, in spring

Even if deep down you know, it’s not the right thing

But hope in itself is beautiful

Like two ends of the same rainbow

First comes the rain, then the colours follow

But there isn’t always a spectrum post rainfall,

Even though the rain makes a really good prism for the light to pass through

But somehow my thoughts day and night are consumed by you

There’s no joy in hoping that something might not come true

But if there’s a glimmer somewhere,

Then I sincerely hope it’s you
