One Day More To Live On'
By Niharika Goswami
The shadows curved, through
the old avenue, tattered
cold and rustic.
A new-found leaf,
wooing a scholar, in the
midday autumn wind.
One, two, three…
Again rolling behind the
luster of old green,
counting on one’s forfeit
to redeem the souvenir
brought by the peachy lover.
Days reflected ,
as the author strikes the
soul of a smitten lord,
still playing in squad
on the crippled chess board,
crooning with the larks
warbling behind the trees
in harmony.
Later grown infant has
still a canny youth to bargain with.
It’s a long and gracious poem,
knitted with sullen rain
and crispy day,
with silver tassels
hanging by the window pane.
Loosing a hope
to be born afresh and pursue
the will, purchased with a
tantalizing fruit, to chew upon.
Timeworn batches of trees
in the peerless court of dreamers,
evergreen as long as the sun shines.
All the myths, if mean something..
there is more to it.
Thousand steps yet to be explored
as the halo of the hero
remains the same.
Tomorrow is yet to arrive,
bitter or bewitched,
man has it’s bottom line,
to carry the fruit, once it’s ripe.
