Once Again,The Trees In Full Bloom,
By Waheed
Once again,
the trees in full bloom,
and scattering fragrance of the soil,
returning of the birds,
dispersing scents of the blossoms,
the morning breeze, the quiet noon,
the tinted evenings and the cold nights,
have proved but unavailing.
And my lone voice echos
in the hills of my hamlet,
where I could see
sky kissing the earth.
And at this hour of _'Nouroz'_,
my heart is collecting the crampled autumn leaves.
Rains don’t amuse me anymore but
bring unanswering waves of seclusion.
Nothing has retained itself,
but streaks of my grey hair,
and wrinkles on my face,
have not been enough,
to reflect your absence.
Wounds have healed though,
scars are everlasting and
nothing has been more pernicious
than your silence!
Earth will be ploughed,
and cultivated again,
but my heart has turned infertile,
and the winds and the rain,
are just going to be unproductive.
