On That Ramble

He took me for a ramble

And asked "How was I doing today?"

My mind was playing scramble

A question lingering for past few days

It started with a mumble

And asking "if I was doing okay?"

I drew myself a trouble

Nerves wrecked and my heartbeat was insane

The confession on that ramble

Do my gestures seem okay?

Last three cards in the gamble

Will all be aces or one will be spade?

He comes a little closer

And placed his palms across my face

He asked "Do I feel colder?"

"My cheeks will be warmer for you always."

We were standing no inches farther

He bows to look into my eyes

Holding pieces of our hearts

We knew we were in our warmest place.
