Ode To Daffodils

I sit where you wandered lonely as a cloud

I gaze into the field;

your eyes - fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Is this the place where you write your song?

Don’t yet shut your eyes,

I still have my song to write

But you rise as a cloud, as a bird and disappear into the night sky.

I look at the field, it’s empty

There is no field,

Just the night sky twinkling in your eyes.

Then they flash upon my inward eye- the daffodils.
