Ode to Covid

When the dust settles

And all the damage is done

Remember what this taught you,

When society crashed and burned

Remember to be grateful

When you behold an alluring sunrise

Make sure your morning rituals

Don’t silence the restored birds cries.

Remember how this modern plague,

Which made you stay inside,

Was nature’s fury aching to be heard,

“Without me; you won’t survive!”

And as my friend, you work along,

Running errands commonplace,

Remember to be kind to the house help,

Give them a smile, and a few holidays!

Even as you rush to meet,

Your friends and lovers galore,

Don’t forget your old parents who,

We’re worried to step outdoors.

Reconsider your priorities now,

Where money held first place.

Replace it with health - know

Riches - your life wont save!

Which brings me to the end of my plea,

It’s really common sense,

Change your outlook and decide that

The “heroes” of today are heroes now, and heroes hence.
