Ode to a missile

I play in the sand, sky lights up, and twilight settles in

what pretty colours rise up from within

I will make a castle of sand and stone

because the majestic missile has taken my home

The earth is far too dry, my castle crumbles and tumbles

As the earth beneath me starts to grumble and rumble

I use tears bonding the grains to form three tiers

I smile at my creation and reach out for mama’s cheers

Mama, mama wake up and see

I have made a new home for you and me!

Mama lays still, maybe she is asleep

I will mix the sand and make her some tea!

Circles in the sand, no start, no end

and high in the sky the mighty missile sends

what power, what might as it starts to descend

praising only those it chooses to defend.

I lay next to mama, she is cold tonight

Closing my eyes, I hear her sweet voice, as a crow takes to flight

Carrying our souls together, oh mama you waited for me!

She hides my face in her bosom as we rise above the blood red sea
