O, You Human!

By Sana Aimen T.A

O, You Human! Do you remember who you are?

Because, from your path, you have strayed afar

You hurt and break, destroy and demolish

You dismantle and devastate, annihilate and abolish

You try so hard to be an unraveller,

But have you forgotten that you are nothing more than a mere traveller?

You toil endlessly to monopolize a land that you don’t own,

And once you fail, you start to grumble and groan

You wrong the innocent and trample over the oppressed,

You hope to control them at your behest

How ruthless you are indeed!

Do look back and pay some heed

Remember O Human, that this life you do not own,

You shall reap only from what you have sown

So love all and spread peace and harmony,

For this life is not ruled by money

Remember to smile, laugh and be glad,

Only then can you light up this world that is in darkness clad

Trust and be worthy of trust, be honest, loyal and mature

Be kind, caring and resilient to build a worthy future

Being creative and consistent is important for you,

But being thoughtful and perceptive is necessary too

Remember, Dear Mortal, life will pass you by in a gust

And one day you will be nothing more than dust.
