Not Strong, Just Here

I don’t actually think I’m strong

my list of insecurities is long.

Every line a quiet thing I hide,

things I rehearse when I’m alone at night.

I’ve got so much I’ve got to do,

plans and pressure piled up too.

Deadlines in my chest that won’t sit still,

a voice that says “keep going” even when I’m ill.

But the part I don’t say out loud is this:

I don’t want to be alone for long.

Not because I can’t hold it

just because holding it feels lighter with someone humming along.

So if you see me quiet, don’t assume I’m fine.

I’m just a person, messy and in line,

trying to be strong enough to stay,

and honest enough to say: stay anyway.
